About Rye Pottery

RYE POTTERY is a 200 year old small production pottery making exquisite hand-made and hand-decorated  pottery. Every collection and new piece is conceived and created by leading ceramic designers, modellers and sculptors and each one is then individually reproduced in our pottery. We create ranges of highly collected figures and animals, individual commemorative one-off commissions – not least our popular named mugs – as well as hand-painted RYE TILES for kitchens and bathrooms.

The beautiful but gentle colour palette we use combined with our strong sculptural shapes create a look that is quintessentially RYE POTTERY. This charming combination lends itself to everything from the elegance of our 18th century figures and animals to the medieval feel of the Canterbury Tales orThe Bayeux Tapestry collections.

Run by just three families for over 200 years, our own family Cole re-opened RYE POTTERY in the beautiful medieval town of Rye after WW2 in 1947. For those who visit us in person we also have a wide variety of bowls, plates and vases for sale in our showroom in the centre of the town, as well as some one-off pieces by Tarquin Cole.

We are always happy to discuss any aspect of our contemporary pottery, so do please call or email us if you have any questions or would like to discuss ideas. All we ask you to remember is that the work is all produced by hand and quality does take a little time!
