status of the Pottery at this time has to have
been quite significant as fifteen pieces were
shown at the Festival of Britain Exhibition in
London in 1951. The Rye Festival Jug being a much sought after collectors item
nowadays. As the techniques & abilities of
the staff developed, more complicated decorating
patterns were introduced which skilfully united both the simple practical shapes with
the more demanding requirements of a public seeking
to escape the drab post war utility years. Cottage
Stripe a deceptively simple vertical stripe has
been in continuous production for over 50 years,
While
the traditional SUSSEX PIG continuously made for
over 200 years
was adapted from
a thrown shape to a
cast mould and is still
a regular seller some
60 years later!
