The Friar
There was a Friar, a wanton one and merry…
Who kept his tippet stuffed with pins for curls
And pocket knives to give to pretty girls
The Friar was designed, with the Nun Prioress, very early in the range and the two have always had a serious band of collectors. He clearly was a standard type of friar and one that Chaucer knew his readers would easily recognise.
Using cobalt and green for his main colour palette he can be seen as one of the several religious Pilgrims on his way to Canterbury.
