The Sergeant at Law

His fame and learning and his high position

Had won him many a robe and many a fee.

Nowhere there was so busy a man as he;

But was less busy than he seemed to be.

A member of The Inns of Court, no doubt Chaucer had had dealings with many like lawyers him, and as still happens today, had been left wondering just what The Serjeant at Law did to earn his fees!

Finding the right decoration for him was a quite a challenge, it could not be too fine as  he is not a Guildsman, so we gave him a rather jolly full length Rugby shirt using soft cobalt and Sherwood green to good effect.
