William the Conqueror

RYE POTTERY’S 1066 BAYEUX TAPESTRY COLLECTION

Rye is only 10 miles from Hastings and 12 miles from Battle so what more natural than a series based on the Battle of Hastings and the wonderful Bayeux Tapestry.

This is an ongoing series with new pieces to be added in regularly. At present there are four figures including almost the only woman mentioned - Harold’s wife and /or  his mistress,  both of whom were called Lady Edith!

Important Dates in the  William and Harold saga: September 29 1066 William and his army landed at Pevensey Beach and October 14  1066 was the day of the actual Battle of Hastings.
