Another of our favourite pieces. Full of charm and packed with detail, this figure depicts a serene Mary & Child. While the sheep and cattle look on, the Angels herald the child’s arrival.

And don’t forget to check the back, where you’ll find two Shepherds celebrating the birth too with the Angel’s perching up above.

Tiny, tiny brushes are used here and this piece takes an absolute age to paint and an extraordinary eye for detail.

The palette here makes use of several Blues, including Delphinium, Cobalt and Garter alongside Dark Chocolatey Brown and warm Coral, Russett and Chetsnut.

Hops have been a quintessential part of the landscape here in Kent & Sussex since the 16th Century. They’ve also been central to the pottery made by us here in Rye since the 1800s – our company has always made pots decorated with hops in various forms and we used the old hop poles as fuel for the old wood fired kilns.

So what could be more natural than a Pastoral figure depicting Oast Houses and the traditional craft of Hop Picking? We still meet lots of customers who remember the annual pilgrimage at harvest time with their Mums and Aunts. Really it was temporary work for adults, but for city kids it was a country holiday.

This is a feelgood snapshot of history, filled with fond childhood memories. As ever the small scale of this piece relies on the incredible talents of our painting team who take hours with tiny brushes to paint every individual brick and hop on this piece.

A delightful piece created specifically for our many loyal international customers.

This figure was conceived to create a dedicated piece for collectors of our American Heroes series who were taken by the simplicity and naivity of our Pastoral collection. And we think the first settlers were a wonderful match for the design concept of this series.

The gentle colours of this piece take you back in time to the fierce, brave and dangerous world of starting afresh in the new lands. Our delicate Olive, Tan and the Dark Drown used to create the detail of the wood on their basic, hand-made cabin is particularly hard to produce on such a small scale. The gentle tones of Damson for Mrs’ dress gives just the right lift of colour to keep a woman’s spirits up while tackling a brave new world. The faithful dogs by their side are charming but essential in the new Frontier.

We’re not sure about the origins of the name for this piece, but it’s without doubt a simple, country figure depicting a humble Shepherd and his wife.

With their charming two sheep at their side, these are hard-working country folk who spend their days tending their animals and tilling the land. Farming is one of those classic professions that seems to simple to those on the outside, but its tough work as every shepherd and farmer knows. There’s no breaks at Christmas or on your birthday, the animals still need to be looked after and fed, though the addition of quad bikes these days does at least make getting around the fields a tad quicker. Though you still have to open the gates!

This is a great addition to any country home with soft, gentle colours and a unique country charm. A perfect gift for the smallest, err, smallholder to the biggest sheep farmer.

A fun and whimsical piece dedicated to the Fisherman’s Tale, you know the one where he met a beautiful Mermaid and she sat upon his knee…

This charming piece forms part of our Naive and Pastoral Collections and has a wealth of incredible detail. From the back of her hand mirror to the intricate fishing nets and fish at their feet there is always something to wonder at. The reverse is charming too with miniature crabs, shells and starfish, yet again showing off our incredible decorators talents.

This is arguably the most elegant piece in our naïve series of pastoral English figures.

As the doting groom gazes at his beautiful new wife, the Bride herself seems to be allowing herself to enjoy the moment, finally basking in the glow of her big day – it really is just as she’d always pictured it.

We also love the two sweet little bridesmaids, who have the slight air of two smalls who’ve managed to behave themselves ALL the way through the ceremony and are now anticipating the promised treat or bribe.

The palette here is soft, elegant and as co-ordinated as any carefully orchestrated 21st Century. The colours featured are Rye White, Dark Green, Flamingo Pink and London Stone.

Rye is a hugely popular marriage venue these days, and rightly so in our opinion – what could be more perfect than a Rye Wedding?
