People tend to associate pottery figures of humans and creatures as being flat backed, so this piece is a great example of Rye Pottery’s determination to offer a fully three dimensional approach. Two beautiful Dalmatians for the price of one to be enjoyed from every possible angle.

Dalmatians and their famous black spots are also a wonderful match for our motto of “no two pieces are ever the same”.

Originally modelled by ceramic Designer Tony Bennett, this is a great addition in particular to a modern mantlepiece. Sold singly but they also look great as a pair.

Known as docile, friendly and alert, these beautiful chickens are also one of Britain’s oldest breeds. They were shown in the first ever general poultry show in 1845 under the names ‘Old Sussex Fowl or Old Kent Fowl’ and even ‘Surrey Fowl’.

Now firmly established as”Sussex Chickens” we’re featuring the “Light” colourway using shades of Black, London Stone & Flamingo. The hand-painted detailing on the feathers, leaves and feet is incredibly delicate and we hope does justice to this backyard friendly, free range breed.

As with all of our figures these elegant Chickens are hand-made using traditional slip-casting methods before being decorated individually by hand.

They can be bought separately or as a pair and come in three other sponged and hand-painted colourways:

These three figures were born out of a Halloween window display a couple of years ago. We loved the idea so much we didn’t put any on show that year and instead decided to develop and refine the concept.

These may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we think they’re a clever gift idea for the devoted Foodie, Farmer or Cook in your life and what better present to take to a BBQ!

A classic pair for us now with a new textured white coat as part of our All White collection.

The All White pair uses a technique called “Sgrafitto” creating a pattern called Tracery that we’ve traditionally used on homewares. The glaze is delicately scratched through giving the sheep a textured coat that makes you want to stroke it. The Ram and Ewe are finished off with a soft brown sponged face with black detailing and hooves.

The figures were originally modelled for Rye Pottery by our long-term collaborator and renowned sculptor and ceramicist, Tony Bennett.
