Sculptor/potter Neal French has been designing for Rye since the early 1980’s. His first pieces were the range of Rye Lovers swiftly followed by the Country House Characters – The County and Country Gardeners, Golfers plus an Edwardian Chef and our charming Pastry Cook. Neal also produced special commemorative figures for us, marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in 2005 with Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, as well as modelling The Prince Regent and Mrs Fitzherbert for the Brighton Pavilion. Rye has been a keen cricketing town for over 200 years so the Rye Cricketers joined our other sporting groups. More recently he has given us the Rye Boy and the Rye Girl as his 21st century contribution to Rye’s growing number of covetable collectables alongside his charming tableware.
