These characterful Rye Pottery groups with a strong feel of some of the early 18th century Bow or Staffordshire figures, have become a major tradition in the continuing collectabilty of Rye. Often dreamt up by Tarquin Cole on the back of an envelope and modelled by Chris O’Donoghue, the groups convey both charm and a certain down-to-earth rustic humour seldom found in modern day ceramics. Once again the soft hand-painted colours and the skills of the individual decorators enable Rye to offer a range that is neither twee nor coy, but one which instead, is eminently desirable and covetable. We have also included on this page some simpler figures designed by Tony Bennett.
