Since 1793
The Franklin
He lived for pleasure and had always done,
For he was Epicurius’ very son,
As noted as St Julian was for bounty
He made his household free to all the County.
As Sherriff he checked audit, every entry
He was a model among landed gentry.
The Franklin, like his friends The Merchant and The Serjeant at Law, wished to be seen as rather more than he actually was.
So we have chosen him a dashing hat plus a good beard, and he’s also sporting a tunic in soft russet with richly decorative coral bands.
Together we hope our decoration helps emphasise his own sense of importance!
