Since 1793
The Skipper or Shipman
Many a draught of vintage, red and yellow,
He’d drawn at Bordeaux, while the trader snored.
The nicer rules of conscience he ignored.
If, when he fought, the enemy vessel sank,
He sent his prisoners home; they walked the plank.
Known to many as the Shipman, this figure is strictly nautical, albeit with an extremely unpleasant character!
We have dressed our Skipper all in Marine Blue, further establishing his authority with a two-tone hat, not forgetting his trusty blade clearly strapped across his chest.
