We have a long heritage of making pieces to commemorate significant Royal Events, but the Coronation of King Charles is such a huge change, we decided to launch something quite different.
This striking pair of hand-made & hand-painted ceramic bookends with their intricate, freehand brushwork are inspired by Tattoo art and highlight the incredible craftsmanship of our team.
Designed by creative director Josh Cole, illustrator Laura Gill and sculptor Neal French, this modern interpretation of the Lion & Unicorn plays with themes from the eponymous children’s poem, contemorary culture and the heraldic figures on the Royal Coat of Arms.
Drawing on Rye Pottery’s renowned 1950’s Festival of Britain motifs, this embellished design presents an alternative and thoughtful look at a nation’s relationship with the Royals, past, present and future. Stunning on the mantlepiece or bookshelf of monarchists and republicans alike.
We hope you like them.
